Funitel Mechanic

Job Summary: Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Funitel while complying with service and safety standards in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Applicants must be 18 years of age.
Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following; but not limited to;
1. Be familiar travel routes on the mountain.
2. Ensure customer is treated courteously and efficiently.
3. Identify any operational issues with the Funitel and take corrective action when necessary.
4. Inspect all parts of Funitel for safe operation.
5. Perform routine maintenance and inspections as established by the manufacturer's operations instructions manual.
6. Repair, remove and/or replace mechanical parts of Funitel as necessary.
7. Assist the public with safe loading and unloading the Funitel cabins.
8. Complete daily logbook and other reports as required.
9. Responsible for snow clearance at station areas.
10. Advise manager of any condition or occurrence that adversely affects the safety of the operation. Is familiar with basic function of drive terminal machinery and lower terminal.
11. Responsible for keeping loading/unloading areas and cabins clean of garbage or debris.
12. Takes emergency action when necessary.
13. Maintain service records and documentation.
14. Must have the ability to trouble shoot, diagnose, and repair or replace Funitel components.
15. Climb lift towers to inspect, diagnose, adjust, and repair or replace components at extreme heights in all weather conditions.

Required:

10. Skill in operating and using mechanical tools and machines.
Preferred:
1. Able to drive a manual transmission vehicle
2. Able to operate a snowmobile
3. Able to operate an ATV
4. Able to operate a side-by-side
Education and Experience:
Required:
1. High School Diploma or GED
2. One year mechanical or electrical experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
3. Experience in tower line work, brake systems, tension systems, motor rooms, station work, carrier maintenance, low voltage, auxiliary motors, and pre-fab.
4. Knowledge of how ski lifts, gondola or tram function, need to be familiar with all lift components and basic lift adjustments.
5. Knowledge of fabrication (welding and torching)
6. Knowledge of fall protection and climbing safety.
7. Valid driver's license
Preferred:
1. Previous experience working on a Funitel.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, hear and smell. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects tools or controls. Must be capable of walking or standing 90% or more of a normal 10-hour work shift. Must be capable of occasionally lifting and pushing or pulling 100 lbs. or more, and frequently lifting, pushing or pulling, and carrying up to 50lbs. Must be capable of frequent climbing movements, walking on uneven terrain, walking on snow and ice, skiing and operating a snowmobile. Must be able to bend, kneel, reach, and crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. As well as indoors in the repair shop or lift stations. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in high precarious places. They will be occasionally exposed to extreme hot/cold and wet conditions, noise, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electric shock. Employee will be required to work on uneven and limited footing locations. Working surfaces can be loose or slippery as well.
Hazardous Materials/Noise: Employee will often be in contact with hazardous substances. The noise level in the work place is usually loud.
Equipment Used in Job: Snowmobile, ATV, side by side, all mechanical tools (hand and power) ropes and rigging.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
